OK, I admit it, I have iPad envy. Despite being a big fan of Apple and loving my iMac, I didn’t get along with the iPhone, as I thought, though very clever, it actually wasn’t a very good phone! iPad accessories are big news as a promotional gift this year and no wonder, if you read this latest news
So I might just have to treat myself to an iPad, get myself a few apps and start showing off some of the great ways you can promote your business with accessories - this year I saw gloves for touch screen devices - keep your hands warm while you play sudoku on the bus!!

Last month’s Trade Only roadshow bought up some interesting promotional ideas and digital printing is once more proving it’s versatility in the incentives market. Once upon a time four colour logos were a real headache, not to mention high cost option if printing on promo gifts. Now however, we have neat little items like the trolley coin keyring shown that can have a colour matched coin and full colour logo on both sides of the fob for under 50p (based on 1000 units). Mint cards and similar products were available with no minimum order and full colour decals are now appearing on a whole host of regular merchandise. Recycling austerity

Those of us born in the 1960s have experienced our fair share of boom and bust and seen “fashions” in business come and go. Industries too have been born and disappeared in our working lives. Recycling is a fairly new business, but as we cut back on everything are we still cutting back on waste? Paper and board is consumed in the UK to the tune of 11 million tonnes but less than half of this is recovered and a staggering 5 million tonnes still ends up in landfill (source: Friends of the Earth)
I wonder how many people avoid recycling simply because they are not sure of whether it can be recycled or not? Also, austerity should make us natural recyclers - giving clothes to charity shops instead of throwing them away or mending things we can no longer afford to cast aside are obvious things. But paper, plastics and especially some of the new large format products that we use in the promotions industry are often not suitable for recycling because of the chemical treatments they go through. HP though offer a “take back” programme for some of the vinyl products we use for printing banners and flags and their PVC-free wallpaper that we print in-house is completely recyclable.
